    There is an XKSS with picture registeredspoke of an XKSS CSK 436 and you spoke of an XKSS registered CSX 436.
    Is it the same car?

    This car was (is?) part of the 'Donhoff Collection' is normally at JD Classics showroom in Maldon, Essex, UK. It is one of two XKSS brought back to UK from Cuba (other was XKSS 725) by Colin Crabbe around 1987. He also brought the remains of XKD 521 back and had all three restored at Bourne (the old BRM works) according to Jaguar Quarterly Vol 4:#1 (Autumn 1991)

    I have my doubts that this car ever went back on the road as the pebble beach 2010 sign states.
    Given it was left undisturbed after the c1957 accident in a wrecking yard until 1967 and the pictures of it taken in 1985 show it having bodywork being done my guess is that these are the repairs still being underway and not another rebuild after being rebuilt a first time?

    In Jaguar Magazine (www.jaguarmagazine.com) we ran a series of features on Jaguars in Cuba within the past 18 months, and Alphonso Gomez-Mena in particular so have researched them very extensively.

    He owned three D-Types in 12 months - XKD521, XKD525 (Briggs Cunningham's own production model) and XKD503 - which had finished 3rd at Le Mans in 1955.

    He wrote XKD521 off in a road race across Cuba, sent it to Briggs Cunningham who scrapped it for parts. Briggs sold him his production D-Type XKD525 which Gomez Mena promptly destroyed in a race in Caracas.

    He then got XKD503 in a deal brokered by Briggs whose Momo Corporation maintained it. He sold it back to buy a Ferrari.

    I have images of the first two D-Types crashed.
