The car is mentioned in the book "Jaguar D Type & XKSS" by Graham Robson as one of 5 "works team cars" XKD504-XKD508. All with bolt on frames, long nose all built by June '55.

508 originally supplied to Jaguar Cars New York (Alfred Momo/Briggs Cunningham) in 1956. Bueb/Hamilton drove it in the Sebring 12 Hours (DNF). Walt Hansgen drove it to several wins during the year (Eagle Mountain; Thompson Raceway). Further appearances for the Cunningham team in 1957 and 1958, before being returned to the UK and scrapped.

Raced in the USA during the 1957 season, crashed and shipped back to UK. Photos from Alfred Momo's shop in Long Island, NY after the 1956 crash exist.
