Reported in Jaguar Quarterly summer 1990 (P.O.S.):
'This car is best known from its first owner Giuseppe Farina, although the former World Champion never raced it. However it did enjoy an active racing career in the US driven by first Ernie Jackson and later 'Doc' Wyllie. It was purchased by Jeff Scott of New York in the late fifties and owned by him for many years before appearing on the market in 1981.

Jeff Scott worked for my father as the program director of radio station WPWA in Chester, PA outside Philadelphia. He introduced me to sports cars around 1953 when had had a 1952 XK-120 which he traded for a 1954 XK-120M.
I lost touch with him years ago.
I found a picture of the car on the Internet in red.

Did the first comment mean to say Ernie Erickson, not Jackson?

Jeff Scott is my uncle. He loved cars. My early memories are of his arrivals at the house in the XK 120s he owned. Later came a 300 SL Mercedes, a Siata, A Ferrari, and his beloved C-Type. It was red when I sat in it. Jeff covered racing for CBS Weekend On Wheels. He reported on races and interviewed drivers, S.Moss et al. He also wrote for the Automobile Quarterly which has a photo and profile of the C Type if you can dig up the edition. Great days. A great uncle.
